New Facebook Snooze Button Arrives

Small business owners might be able to adjust their content frequency for time zones and special events with less fear of being unfollowed.

Updated:

During my high school years, the snooze button on my alarm clock was both a friend and foe. It could allow me to enjoy a few more precious moments of dreamtime, or it would help me earn a tardy slip for my first class of the morning.

According to an article in TechCrunch today, Facebook is testing a snooze button that will allow you to say “night-night” to overactive people and pages for 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days.

This new idea could allow small businesses and entrepreneurs to adjust their content strategy on Facebook to allow for more:

  • Time zone reposts
  • Content surges for special events

While this feature may give you comfort that you can increase your activity on Facebook without losing followers, Facebook’s feed algorithm will certainly include the number of times a snooze button is pressed on your posts.

Ensuring that your content is relevant is still the best way to keep your followers from ‘sleeping’ through your office Halloween party or your content re-runs for an audience on the other side of the world.
