The latest American fitness obsession revolves around taking 10,000 steps per day, or roughly 5 miles (8km). When examining Google search trends, we see an average of 350,000 searches per month related to ’10,000 steps’, minus a New Year’s resolution bump.
When Americans travel, they invariably will want to maintain their 10,000 step goal. Tourism operators and hotel concierge services may want to consider promoting packages with 10,000 steps included. For example, we took a walking tour of Diocletian’s Palace in Split, Croatia. If I were attempting to market a similar tour, I would create a Google Map like the one below with key points of interest and associated images and videos.
Do you offer walking tour itineraries to your visitors? If so, do the routes incorporate a particular theme? Please add your thoughts to the comments below.
