The Robots of Tesla’s Gigafactory are Producing Batteries Faster and Cheaper than Their Competition

Tesla’s Gigafactory near Sparks, Nevada is built in alignment with true north to maximize its ability to harness the region’s abundant solar power.

That energy is being used to power a fleet of robots inside that factory that are manufacturing advanced batteries at a rate of about 5,000 a week.

From articulated arms to autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs), the Gigafactory uses a variety of different robots to maximize efficiencies.

New production lines are also in the works, leading to greater economies of scale and more robotic investments.
